2021 Training has just released its California Earthquake Adjuster Certification course!
The development of this class started 9 months ago as a result of a conversation with Dan Dyce from the California Earthquake Authority. Dan mentioned that he would like to see a quality online certification that adjusters would have access to so they could keep their certifications current. So we set off to do just that.
Many people are a bit confused about the certification and how it is obtained. Most of us associate the California Earthquake Adjuster Certification with California Earthquake Authority. Dan Dyce has done a lot in recent years keeping adjusters certified by participating in CAT conferences with several engineering firms and offering the 3-year certification in the live classroom environment.
What most people don’t realize is that the California Earthquake Adjuster Certification is required by law from the California Department of Insurance (CDI). CDI produces the guidelines for the certification and all the rules associated with offering it. The certification is not tied to California Earthquake Authority (CEA) in any way. The California Earthquake Authority is a state run insurance company that offers earthquake insurance to those in California. California law dictates that all insurance companies must offer coverage for earthquakes. The insurance companies have two options. They can either provide their own coverage or they can resell the CEA policy. Most of the larger carriers have opted to resell the CEA policy. This means that CEA is the largest player when you are dealing with insurance claims.
In developing our certification, we have included a lot of information about CEA and it’s policies. The reason for this is that if you are ever deployed to do earthquake claims as an adjuster in California, then you will most likely be working with CEA claims which are sold by most carriers. The California Department of Insurance does not mandate the CEA policy information in their guidelines, but we feel it serves you best as an adjuster to be familiar with their policies and what they cover.
As with all our online certifications, you can sign up and start them immediately. There is no need to wait for a webinar or live class.
